Screen-Mediated Landscapes of Brooklyn

I made these paintings from google street views, cityporn of Brooklyn and craigslist apartment photos.

I painted most of the works on the reverse side of plexiglass to translate the frustration of trying to virtually visit a place one has never been to. I was also thinking about the let down of looking at paintings on the internet, and how one must guess the surface texture, paint application, thickness, etc. Conversely, at times, seeing in person works one has only viewed through photos sometimes the object is step down from the documentation.

In that line of thought, i made works that would mimic the screen viewing experience while at the same time become objects that are nearly impossible to get a good photo of for the internet. And now, I have tried to do just that.
